Issue 43 September 1st, 2019 Dear Guildies, Unfortunately, due to weather conditions and the impending arrival (or not) of hurricane Dorian, we had to cancel the September General Meeting.  But don't despair, the 10th Anniversary Celebration is just postponed to October 2nd. This is THE meeting you will not want to miss. In the meantime, I hope you will get some extra sewing time.  In case you need some inspiration, you can sew a couple of Blocks of the Month : September's BOM is HERE and October's one will be on the blog very soon, check the BOM page.  You can also make some Road to Tennessee blocks for our Call for Block drive, remember there will be a prize for the member who brings the most blocks to our next meeting.  It will also give you extra time to send in a quote about your OMQG experience, and find the project you made at the first OMQG class or guild challenge that you participated in.  Bring it to the meeting! If you have registered to the PinPal swap, you now have an extra month to finish your pincushion and bring it to the October meeting in a small brown paper bag and include a short intro about yourself in the bag for the recipient.  Don't staple or tape the bag shut--we'll be having a pincushion parade at the meeting! Now that the pumpkin spice flavours are out, it is time to plan for Holiday Celebrations. This year, the Guild will guild will be sponsoring food at each Sew Day location in December.  We need a 'Room Mom' for the 3 SewDays, to order and set up food.  Please let Beth Know if you are willing to help. Finally, lets make sure your calendars are up to date:  our first meeting of 2020 will be on January 8th at the Sewing Studio. However, we have now 3 full SewDays for you, may I challenge you to attend all of them?  September SewDays are: Dr Phillips - September 7th (10am-4:45pm) - FULL DAY Maitland -  September 9th (10am-3pm)   Casselberry Library - September 28th (9am to 12:30)  Guild Retreat is from November 7th from 11th, at the Wyndham Ocean Walk Resort in Daytona. Block of the Month (current and past) instructions, meeting minutes, Calendar dates, and more can be found on the guild blog. November Retreat Marge Cree The deadline for booking your spot at the Guild Retreat is approaching.  If you haven't booked your room yet, you have until October 7th at 5pm to do so and benefit from the negotiated rates.  The link is HERE. In meantime, Marge is looking for Door prizes for the event. Do you have a kit that you bought but know deep down that you will never get to? Do you have a fat quarter bundle that you just couldn't refuse but have no idea what to do with it? Do you have a quilting tool or ruler that you know you will never use again? Do you have a book that you just bought but really didn't see anything you want in it? Well, we have just the place for it!  Bring it to the October meeting, give it to Marge and we will use it for our Retreat Door prizes. Please make sure it s something you would want to win, let's keep it as modern as possible.  Of course, if you have a favourite store you go to and want to ask them for a free door prize, please do. In advance, thank you for making our Retreat such a wonderful experience.
