You will need 2 fabrics:
- Ocean blue (blue, green, aqua...) in small print, solid, tone on tone;
- White, solid or white on white.

Step 1: Making Half Square Triangles (HST) using 3 Ocean and 3 White 4" squares
- Place 2 squares, one of each colour, right side together. Mark a diagonal across the top square.
- Sew a 1/4" away on each side of the diagonal.
- Cut the unit in half on the diagonal. Open the unit and trim to a 3" square.
- Reserve 5 of those HST
Step 2: Making the Hourglass block
- Pair the remaining HST with the remaining 4" Ocean square (note that the Ocean square is slightly larger than the HST)
- Right side together, alining the smaller square to 2 edges of the bigger one.
- Draw a diagonal across the HST (perpendicular to the previously sewn line, see picture below).
- Sew a 1/4 away from the marked line (only on one side). Cut on the line, open the unit.
Remember that who wins the raffle gets to bring all the blocks home.
