Have you cleaned out your sewing room yet?  We are so looking forward to meeting in person next week!  We will have a brief business meeting and then it's time to SHOP!  Masks will be required, and you may bring snacks and drinks, for yourself or to share.  In November, we do plan to meet at the Sewing Studio in person. We will keep an eye on Covid numbers in central Florida, of course, but for now that's the plan.  Again, masks will be required. We are still looking for someone to take over the Guild library.  We have reduced it's inventory to make it easier to manage and could really use your help.  Please contact me if interested! There is a link in the newsletter under library information . And if you've had a library book checked out since we last met in March 2020, please return it so we can update our inventory.  See you next week!   Ede

FABRIC SALE                                                 It's that time of year again for the Great OMQG Fabric Stash Sale. Here's how it works:       1. Gather your (fat quarters or larger) fabric scraps to donate    2. We'll collect your patterns, books and notions too! 3. Mark the fabric with it's size or length (no need to price anything)  We will announce the price per yard at the start of the sale. It will be the honor system... you pick what you want, add it up and tell us how much you owe!           4. Bring your items to the October meeting at Maitland Community Outdoor Park          5. Place your items on the appropriate table                                        6. SHOP    Payment is by check, cash or Paypal    Don’t have any cash on you????  No problem... You can pay by check or on Paypal , too ...just look up Orlando MQG on Paypal and pay what you owe !

"Solar Flare" Quilt-A-Long   Our September meeting was all about half-square triangles.  We shared our favorite rulers to make them easier and more precise! Next meeting is Monday, October 4 at 7:00 pm on Zoom – see you there! OCTOBER MEETING  Wednesday, October 6 10:00 am Maitland Community Park 1400 Mayo Ave, Maitland, FL  (very close to the Sewing Studio)  in Pavilion #2.  This meeting will be the annual fabric sale and Show and Tell  Please see information in the newsletter on  how the sale works!  * Maitland Community Park is very large, with plenty of parking available as well as nice restrooms.  * Bring a snack to share (or not) and water.  This is a covered open air pavilion with ceiling fans.  There are picnic tables, but you are welcome to bring your own chairs if you prefer.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH REPORT   TAGGIES- Kits for the Taggies will be available at the retreat! If you are looking for a quick project see Sharleen Jespersen or Sue Kenard during the retreat to pick up a kit or two.   ORPHAN BLOCKS- Looking for orphan blocks! If you have orphan blocks that you don’t need, don’t want, or can’t remember where they came from donate them to the guild. Karol Evans’ sister comes to the retreat each year and makes charity quilt tops for us from the donations. Let’s help keep her busy while she’s here.   NO OCTOBER EXCHANGE DAY- Since we will be meeting in person in October there will not be an October Exchange Day. Sue Kenard, Community Outreach Chair

Did you know the Orlando MQG has an amazing collection of book titles to loan out to members ?  Check out this link to see the range of books available! The OMQG is in need of a librarian to oversee the book collection and manage the check-outs for members . If you think that is a posiiton you could fill, please let us know ... email the guild here for more information .

October Calendar Includes     an in-person Sew Day at the Maitland Library, October 11, as well as daily virtual Sew Days

Last Day to sign up for rooms for the November retreat at Wyndham Ocean Resort is tomorrow, October 4 This will be a really fun event with demos, prizes, games , shopping, snacks and time to sew all those projects !! Thurs. Nov. 4, 2021 to Monday Nov 8, 2021   If you need a room-mate,  please email Ashley Gottshalk (her email is in the OMQG roster)    You can find complete information and details to sign up for the retreat or hotel rooms in the May or June newsletter    Retreat – Registration is closed as of tomorrow , October 4 An email will be going out in the next week to attendees with specifics on what to bring etc.  If you have any door prizes that you would like to donate please let Sarah Lauzon, Kathy Aber or Marge Cree know. If you have any batiks you would like to donate for a demo please let Debbie Zopp know or bring them to the October meeting.  We have a 2 spots open for day visitors, let Marge Cree know if you are interested.

REMINDERS   The November meeting will be November 3, 2021 at 10:00 am at the the Sewing Studio  If you want to return or check out a library book,  please let us know and we'll get the book to you at the monthly meeting .   Go to our blog and see the amazing list of books available to borrow. If you can't find what you want, make a recommendation to our Wish List  HERE  In-Person Sew Day is Monday, October 11, at the Maitland Library. Maitland Library Sew Days are the first Monday after the regular monthly meeting.  Virtual Sew Days are every day on Zoom!  See the calendar for details.
