Saturday Sew Day

We had a cozy group of five for our Sew Day, but there was still delicious food. There's always delicious food. We quilters need our strength. There were homemade cookies, gourmet salads, decadent fudge, and deviled eggs. What's more fun than sewing and eating all day long?

The room at the library is huge. Plenty of room for sewing, cartwheels, or dancing if you wish. It's usually ice cold, so bring a sweater. Perfect for summer sewing. The view out the windows is lovely. A storm passed through, but we were safe and sound in our surroundings. And you can go next door and check out a book or two. We also have visitors who want to know what we're up to drop in on occasion.

Maya was busy working on a peacock tote bag for herself. We coerced her into teaching us her embroidery with mirrors method at the next Sew Day. She had just returned from a Renaissance Faire and we all enjoyed hearing about the costumes and food from that era. There was talk about bringing foods from that time at the next Sew Day on September 15. I'm roasting a pig with an apple in it's mouth, so be sure to come out. ;)

Judy quilted her adorable turtle quilt she is making for her aqua aerobics instructor who is just about to pop. The baby's name is appliqued on the back of the quilt and Judy is making a turtle softie to go along with the quilt.

Linda was busy hand embroidering a table topper for her sister. She also made a beautiful version of our September BOM. You can get the instructions right here. Whip up one or two blocks and you might win enough blocks for an entire quilt at the September guild meeting. It's a fun block with no fancy measuring or squaring.

Alejandrina finished her exquisite appliqued wall hanging. Just look at all those tiny pieces. A true labor of love and expertise. That hand quilting sure doesn't hurt either. Absolutely gorgeous.

I worked on a ladybug quilt kit and manned the food table as usual.

So mark your calendar for the next Sew Day, September 15. Bring your UFOs, WIPs, a new project or just yourself. It's a lot of fun. See you there!
