July 2021 Newsletter

Issue 63

It's the dog days of summer, so hopefully you're enjoying the A/C while you're sewing something beautiful!  I am so excited to announce that we are returning to IN PERSON meetings starting in August!  We will be back at our usual location, the Sewing Studio in Maitland--and they are very excited about our return!  Please note there is a date change for August--we will meet August 11, at 10 am, rather than Aug 4.
Two important notes about this meeting:
  • We are still discussing the maximum number of people Sewing Studio will allow.  Right now, they have suggested a maximum of 50, but they are willing to work with us on a final number.  To help us, please email the guild, if you are planning on attending the August meeting.  This is not a formal RSVP, we are just trying to gauge interest . If we do determine that we will have to limit the number of members attending, it will be necessary for you to sign up.  We don't have the details worked out yet, so please watch your email carefully.
  • We ask that you wear a mask for this meeting, for the comfort of all our members.  This will help ease the transition to being together in person again.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
  • Also, please keep in mind that Sewing Studio does not allow any food or drink other than water in our meeting room.
We are also returning to in-person Sew Days!  The Maitland Library currently has us scheduled for Aug. 9 and September 13, from 10-5.  Bring your machine, bring a snack, and enjoy sewing in the same room with your fellow guild members.  Our virtual Sew Days will continue as well, although they won't take place on the days in-person sew days are scheduled.

See you on Zoom this week and then LIVE in August!  Can't wait!

                            • Move beyond common circle-quilt designs to tackle curved piecing with ease

                            • Add stripes to curved piecing and use color to add depth for a simple way to make complex quilts

                            • Piece block-based layouts and improv designs ranging from simple to advanced
