Issue 55

I hope you're enjoying a tiny bit of fall crispness in the air (finally!)  I always feel energized at this time of the year so my sewing machine has been getting a workout.
You should have received information about our upcoming Sewcation Staycation virtual retreat.  I am looking forward to this so much!  The retreat committee has been working diligently to get great swag, and coming up with a fun and full schedule.  I hope you will all join in the fun! Deadline to sign up is midnight Oct 9. (And thank you to our committee members for volunteering to help out--it is greatly appreciated.)

This month's meeting features the start of our next section of programming, which is all things CIRCLES.  And we have a packed schedule of Sew Days that we're rolling out too.

And, the amazing Amy Friend will be joining us on Oct 17 to talk about her fussy cutting techniques.  She has the most beautiful new book out now--Petal and Stem--and we have a copy now in the guild library for you to check out.

Even as 2020 grinds on, we have plenty of opportunities to share some sewing time together--I hope to see all of you soon on my computer screen!

Ede

               Baby Quilt Update

Total collected to date 44. Thank you Love Sullivan for helping to collect quilts from your area. I am having so much fun seeing all of the beautiful colors and designs from our members. Keep up the good work. We will be delivering the first batch of quilts in November, with the final delivery in March.

Many of you have mentioned that you have completed baby quilts. If you would like to hand them in please contact either myself or Sharleen Jespersen. We would be happy to arrange the drop off/pick up with you. Please attach an OMQG label to the quilts if you can. Most of the guild board members have labels, contact any of us or Michele Lancaster if you need labels.

              Call for Blocks/Charity Quilts Update

Julie Parrott reports that the Quilts for Compassion group has postponed all activities for now. Please let Julie know if you know of any agency/group in need of quilts and willing to accept them. At this time we are asking that members hold on to any Charity quilts that you may have, we’ll let you know when there is a call or need.

              IT’S A WRAP

Our goal of completing four of our unfinished projects this year is well into our third project which we hope to finish by our November meeting. We drew the number #3 for these two months and Ede Nault crossed the finish line earlyby getting her borders done ! She said, “My task for #3 was just to add 2 borders to the center medallion, not to complete the whole quilt.” Great colors and design and some complicated piecing. Congratulations on the work in progress , Ede!

Ede's borders are on her quilt !

Another set of clues will be revealed this Wednesday, October 7 !

              Dorothy Piety

Finished my scrappy quilt, made with 6” half square triangles.  Quilted on my home machine and given to my grandson.

I got my water colors out and am doing some painting (after a 10 year hiatus!).

My 7 year old granddaughter requested a cloth doll.  What a challenge!  Clothes and body are made, face is painted.  Maybe by Christmas!!!
Having fun taking Rene’s class now!

              Yanick Booz
