Festival of Trees

Our collaborative Festival of Trees quilt was presented to the Orlando Museum of Art's Council of 101 and received a standing ovation from the luncheon attendees!  Way to go everyone!!

A big thank you to our wonderful Festival of Trees Committee (Debbe, Kathryn and Yanick), our talented members who made the wonderful 6" blocks, Yanick for designing and piecing the quilt top, Beth for quilting, Mary for binding and Debra for making the quilt bag!!

Presentation of Quilt
With the contribution of so many members, this project came together beautifully.  The individual blocks are spectacular and the effect of them combined in this fabulous design by Yanick is just incredible!  I love admiring the quilt, noticing each individual block and guessing the creator's identity.
Creativity on display!
Our quilt will be auctioned at the Opening Gala of the OMA's Festival of Trees and displayed throughout the entire festival.  Seeing our quilt hanging in the Orlando Museum of Art is reason enough to attend the Festival of Trees, but if you need more click on their link to see pictures from past festivals.  A few hours at the festival will no doubt put you in the holiday spirit.

2014 Festival of Trees
The festival hours are 10am-5pm November 15-23.  Taken from the  museum's website, "Now in its 28th year, the Council of 101’s Festival of Trees will kick off Central Florida’s holiday season with a touch of tradition “Tis the Season.”  The Orlando Museum of Art will become a vibrant wonderland of holiday elegance with designer decorated trees, wreaths and gingerbread creations all for sale, along with stunning holiday vignettes, drawings for dazzling prizes and a Toyland Town activity area and shop for the children. Other holiday decorations and gifts will be available for purchase in the Festival Boutique.
The entire family will enjoy the sites and sounds of this very popular Central Florida tradition benefiting the Orlando Museum of Art to further the cultural development and appreciation of the visual arts and children's art education programs."
Isn't she a beauty?!

I am so proud to be a member of this guild!!!  We rock, if I may say so myself!!!

  1. The tree turned out so well...congrats, everyone! I'm looking forward to taking my 91-year-old mom to see it and the rest of the Festival of Trees.
