Vice President Cara Dobrev welcomed everyone to the October 2023 General Meeting. A number of business items were reviewed:
- Retreat sign-up deadline is October 9 - make sure to sign up if you're interested in attending. We have room for people who would like to do a day-trip - if you are interested in that, please email Kathy Caldes.
- December's holiday meeting will have a needle holder swap - see the newsletter for more information.
- QuiltCon is coming up in February 2024 - let the Guild know if you plan to attend so that everyone can be included in any meet-ups.
Treasurer Pamela Edwards gave an update on our income and expenses.
Education Coordinator Debby Manuel discussed an opportunity for a workshop with David Owen-Hastings. She provided an overview of the options he provides - all via zoom, but with different topics and different workshop lengths. The attendees were polled on what they would prefer. Most wanted a 6-hour workshop on either the Art or Architecture topics, and would like the option of having a space where people could come and work together if they wanted/were able to do that.
Nancy Reed, BOM Coordinator, showed the selection for the November BOM, the "squirls" pattern. An email was distributed to members on 10/5 with instructions.
The October Block-of-the-Month winner was Pat Porter.
The Raffle Basket winner this month was Georgianna Platt (no picture is available).
Ashley Gottshalk shared the status of the Festival of Trees quilt, which looks beautiful! She led the team of volunteers who worked on this quilt which raises funds for the Orlando Museum of Art.
Finally, Show and Tell was inspiring as always!
Such wonderful inspiration!
