Our March Guild meeting was so inspirational! During the “business” part of the meeting,
our new President Marge Cree presented gifts to each of the outgoing officers,
including a quilt made by Ede Nault (outgoing President) that Debra Jalbert
(outgoing Vice President) quilted for her as a gift – it is a beautiful piece
of art. Marge also presented the incoming
officers for 2022-2023. (You can find
them listed HERE).
Cara Dobrev provided us an overview of the next few month’s
of activities planned as follows:
- A class on English Paper Piecing led by our own René Martinez via Zoom – to be held 4/23/2022
- The May meeting will feature Art Quilts with Jackie Clark and Margaret Wesley (along with the kick-off of our 2022 Art Quilt Challenge)
- The July meeting speaker will be Verushka Zarate, a foundation paper piecer who just won Best in Show at QuiltCon (www.prideandjoyquilting.com)
- And the September meeting will be a trunk show by Steph Skardal, a modern quilter who uses lots of color in her quilts (www.stephskardalquilts.com)
Cara also provided an overview of the special interest
groups that we’d like to do this year – but we are looking for some
leaders! Specifically, we need people to
take charge of a Block of the Month program, the Festival of Trees quilt, the QuiltCon
quilt, a Round Robin challenge, and a Fabric Dyeing group.
Kathy Aber talked about our 2022-2023 Outreach – she is
still seeking input from members on projects (although a few ideas are already
being discussed), as well as looking for team members. Please reach out to Kathy with your
input. The video of the Guild’s presentation
of taggies and incubator covers to the Winnie Palmer hospital was shown – you can
find the video on our YouTube channel HERE.
Finally, we had a wrap-up of our Solar Flare Quilt-A-Long
that ran from July 2021 through January 2022.
Beautiful work by all on this
challenging pattern. Pictures below.
After our speaker, the gift basket was raffled off – and won by Pat Porter. We also had a quick Show & Tell. Pictures of both Pat with her basket, and the Show & Tell, are below.
