Ede Nault, President, opened the meeting
· May meeting plans
o Meeting live at Maitland community park open air pavilion
o Follow current CDC guidelines – masks required, social distancing even if fully vaccinated
o Bring snacks to share (if comfortable), water
o Show & Tell – please bring up to 2 items per person
o Email to review the May meeting will come out later
· June/July meetings – back on zoom
· August meeting – under discussion with Sewing Studio; more information to come when available
· Survey to come out to members about your comfort assessment regarding meetings, small group functions
· New members introduced: Pam Abrams, Joylyn Catledge
Kathy Aber, Treasurer report
· List of new members published in newsletter; Melissa Munoz also new since the newsletter went out
· Directory information being gathered from new members, send to Kathy or Paula; targeting next couple of weeks to get the updated directory out to all members
· Membership total – 97 members for 2021-2022 year; new member cards will be available at May meeting (used for Sewing Studio discounts!)
· Cash bank balance and expenses reviewed
Sue Kenard, Community Outreach report
· Sue is looking for someone to mentor
· Summit Church baby quilt donations completed – 100 total; watched video
· Continuing projects:
o Placemats – given to Seniors for birthday gifts; 14x20
o Drawstring bags – for foster kids aging out of the system (18yo); no suitcases, use the drawstring bags for their clothing
· New projects – all information in the newsletter!
o Taggies – for Winnie Palmer NICU unit; parents sleep with so that scent is on the fabric, then given to the child
o Incubator covers – also for Winnie Palmer NICU unit; used at night to block out lights and learn sleeping habits
o Both Taggies and Incubator covers will be x-rayed, laundered and quarantined by the hospital; please follow instructions for specific needs required by hospital
o Pillowcases – for Orlando Union Rescue Mission
· Exchange Days – at Sewing Studio on 3rd Monday of the month; will continue until we start meeting in person
· Contact Sue if you know of any charities that could use our help
· Boulder Modern Quilt Guild doing fundraising for Colorado Healing Fund for shooting victims – see their website to purchase patterns
Marge Cree, Education report
· Carolina Oneto, April 24 from 11am to 3pm - Curves & Transparencies class; deadline April 16 to sign-up
· Sue Bleiweiss, June 2 at general meeting (10am) – Lecture/trunk show (misty fuse technique available on MQG site)
· Daisy Aschehoug, aka “WarmFolk” on Instagram, July 7 at general meeting (10am) – Lecture/trunk show
· Jacquie Gering class Sept 24 and 25 (different class each day)
· Retreat – contract signed with Ocean Walk in Daytona Beach – Nov 4 to 8, 2021 – information will be sent out for sign-ups; looking for chairman and committee members to help
Aradria Csercsevits, Library & Social Media report
· Reach out to be added to private Facebook group; follow us on Instagram
· Library – pick-ups and returns on Exchange Days; reach out to Aradria to get books – see blog for list of books available
· New in the library this month – Bisa Butler portraits book
