October 2024 Meeting Minutes

Cara, President, welcomed one returning visitor and one new member.

Announcements
The updated directory was sent to members on September 30. If you did not receive the updated directory, please reach out to the guild email.

We're looking for members who are interested in running for Vice President, Education Coordinator, or Community Outreach Coordinator. We also need three members to serve on the nomination committee. Reach out to the guild email if you are interested!

Treasurer's Report
Ellen presented the Treasurer's report, which is also available by request. We are currently carrying a $10k balance but are planning on finding ways to use our funds in a way that benefits the most members possible. We plan to carry a consistent reserve of $5k.

Upcoming Events
In addition to our usual events, we will be participating in International Scrap Sorting Day on November 2nd (join us in our virtual sew day!) and we will host our first Sew Night on zoom on November 7.

Marge Cree is hosting a fabric sale to help reduce some of our member's stashes. Knock on her door between 10 and 6 on October 9 or 10 to shop - fabric is $1/pound.

Our Holiday Social is coming up in December (it occurs during our General Meeting). We traditionally host an exchange during this meeting - this year we will be exchanging pot holders! Get creative with how you make yours, we just ask that it truly functions as a pot holder. Insul-Bright makes for a great batting material, as well as multiple layers of old towels or cotton batting.

Community Outreach
No updates this month!

Education
Bradie's workshop was a success!

We will be hosting a workshop by David Owen Hastings - Inspired by Art!

If you haven't checked it out yet - take a look at the "Libby" app. You can sign in with your library card and it gives you virtual access to many of your library's resources! There are plenty of quilting magazines available for perusal.

Let Marge know if you want to be a day visitor, we have some space. If you are planning to attend, olease register by October 15.
