Member-at-Large Ashley Gottshalk welcomed five guests and one new member to our meeting! She also brought her own special guest with her - her 3 week old daughter, Cecilia!
Ellen presented the Treasurer's report, which is also available by request. Our budget has also been approved and is available by request.
Raven, Secretary, solicited feedback on the Member Guide distributed in May. She also requested a show of hands for members who didn't receive the retreat email - it seems we may be having email issues among a small portion of our membership, and Raven will be working to resolve these. Raven also reminded members to let us know if they are interested in joining the 15th Anniversary Planning Committee!
Community Outreach
Fabric samples arrived for our QuiltCon quilt. We will be using the Tigers Eye pattern. The next step is to cut the fabric and make the kits, we will need to assemble 35 blocks. Contact Kathy Aber and Pam Abrams if you'd like to join!
We are also underway on our Festival of Trees quilt using a harlequin pattern. The group kicked off efforts at sew day last Saturday and are getting ready for assembly.
Marge will be hosting a trunk show at The Blake at Hamlin Assisted Living in Winter Garden. The guild is donating quilts to raffle there. Additionally, or QuiltCon charity quilt from 2024 will be raffled to raise money to support the Alzheimer's Association.
Education
Participants from Sarah Goer's workshops shared their results with the guild. Everyone had a great time trying something new!
Debby Manuel, our Education Coordinator, reminded everyone of Bradie Britt's upcoming bag making workshop that will take place at the September sew day. She passed around a signup sheet to gauge interest.
Debby also announced that sometime next year our very own Caroline Garnier will be teaching a quilt coat workshop! Debby will assemble a list of questions for the guild to help Caroline "tailor" the class to our group, be on the lookout for a future survey.
Marge reminded everyone about our 2024 Retreat. It will be at Daytona Oceanwalk again this year, November 14 - 18. We will have another popup shop from Sew Modern Chicky, a masseuse on Saturday, games, prizes, and more! If you have any door prizes you would like to donate, contact Debby Manuel.
Programming
Jane Allingham shared a bit about slow stitching with the guild. We then had the opportunity to connect with one another by taking the time to slow down and stitch together!
