January 2023 General Meeting

President Marge Cree welcomed all to the January 4, 2023, General Meeting.

We had a great presentation from the Adult Literacy League, which uses our QuiltCon quilt for their fundraising activities.  Gina Solomon, the Executive Director of the organization, provided some heartwarming stories of adults who have benefited from their services, and noted that they are always looking for volunteers to help out.

Ede Nault, chair of the Nominating Committee (along with her helpers Jeff Rich and Carla Santos) presented the following slate of nominees for the 2023-24 Board:

  • President - Marge Cree
  • Vice President - Cara Dobrev
  • Secretary - Dawn Vanderwolf
  • Treasurer - Pamela Edwards
  • Member-at-Large - Paula Kennedy
  • Community Outreach Coordinator - Karol Evans
  • Education Coordinator - Debby Manuel

A vote was performed, and all nominees on the slate were approved for the positions noted.

Marge also reviewed the Board-appointed positions, and noted that we are looking for volunteers to fill them.  These positions are as follows:

  • Monthly Program Coordinator - to assist Cara and Debby
  • Block of the Month - Nancy Reed has volunteered to lead this group, but additional help is always appreciated
  • Challenges/Swaps - the Board will review the current list of these and solicit leaders after the February planning meeting
  • Librarian - Dawn Vanderwolf is currently managing this, but if anyone would like to take it over that would be great
  • Social Media Committee
  • Sunshine Coordinator
All positions have details on responsibilities listed in the By-Laws, which are provided on the blog HERE.

Annual registration is coming up!  Dues of $55 are due by March 15, 2023.  A separate email is going out to members with detailed instructions on this process.
