It's March Already !

Welcome to the March newsletter...
It seems like the first two months of the year have flown by.
You'll find some important information and links in this newsletter regarding membership renewal and the upcoming workshop on "Curves and Transparencies" with Carolina Oneto. Remember the March meeting will be on Zoom,  Wednesday , March 3, at 10:00am . It will be a fun meeting , a re-cap from QuiltCon , and a chance to chat with fellow guild members in breakout rooms on Zoom .

See you on Zoom !

As you know, our membership year and fiscal year both go from the

beginning of March to the end of February.  Again this year, we

are spreading our membership drive over February and March

to help us arrive at the most accurate count possible before the

OMQG membership registration deadline with The Modern

Quilt Guild headquarters on March 31st.  Your membership with

the Orlando Modern Quilt Guild also includes membership in The

Modern Quilt Guild along with access to it's website resources

and benefits.

At the Board meeting on Jan. 16, the OMQG Board approved a one-time

dues reduction to $35 for 2021-2022 as OMQG’s gift to it's

members. And a bonus , renewing members do not

need to submit a registration form along with the dues

payment.

If there are changes to your current information,
please include a note with the changes along with the payment.
Or,  in the "notes " section on PayPal to make any changes to your address , phone , email , etc. , (see picture below)

Again this year, everyone will receive a revised and updated pictorial

directory that will include mailing address, email address and phone

number for all members.

To expedite your re-registration, you can pay your $35.00 dues thru the

Orlando MQG
PayPal LINK  or by check payable to Orlando Modern

Quilt Guild and mailed to Kathy Aber, Treasurer ( her address is in the directory )

You can also give a check to Sue Kenard at the
March 15 exchange days at the Sewing Studio.

*Note: If you are using a PayPal account not in your own name, (example would be a spouse's name )
please indicate who the membership is for in the PayPal note
section. ( see picture below )

**Additional note: If you do not have a PayPal account and do not wish to create one, the Treasurer can invoice you for dues renewal to your email address on file with the guild; just request an invoice from her by email  to kh.aber410@gmail.com

For new members only, a registration form will be available for
download on the
Orlando Modern Quilt Guild BlogThat form and check can be sent to
the Orlando MQG to the address listed at the bottom of the newsletter, or you can pay
thru PayPal; leave your name and email in the notes section

Hello again,
Hope you are doing fine and haven’t lost your sew-jo like a few of us!
I’m not sure what I want to make next.  I think I’ve exhausted all my friends and relatives with quilts and have done lots of donation quilts.  Now I have to figure out who is next!
So maybe I need to concentrate on new techniques with new teachers.

Speaking of that, we have our Carolina Oneto class on April 24th; please join us.   Remember April 1st is the deadline, and we will be
opening up to non-members if we don’t reach the limit.

Sew modern quilts that illuminate your life with the help of ombré fabrics. Easy large-scale piecing shows the entire ombré gradation, while smaller-pieced quilts let colors dance and glow in hundreds of hues, tints, and tones! With a single fabric containing subtle shifts from pale to dark, color feels exciting and new again. Jennifer Sampou shows you how to make the fabric work for you, with eight brilliant quilt projects featuring her Sky Collection fabric.

Summit
Baby Quilt Project

March 15 is the final day to either bring your quilt to Exchange Day or make arrangements to deliver to Sharleen. March 25 is the last presentation to Summit.

Sharleen reports “The Pastor did say today that all but a final few (of the previous quilts) have been given out and the families have been so grateful.”

Charity Quilt Story from Julie Parrott

I recently received a heartwarming note from one, Guardian ad Litem Friends of Children of Brevard, letting me know that the music theme of one of our quilts ended up being the perfect quilt for a teenage girl accomplished in music who they have taken out of an abusive home to help secure her a safe home with a loving family.
