So here's this month's question(s) broken down in two sections?
If you ARE on Instagram:
- What's your handle? I want to make sure @OrlandoMQG is following you!
- Are you following @OrlandoMQG?
- Please use the hashtag #OrlandoMQG when posting guild related sewing projects or items that may be of interest to other guild members.
- Do you recommend any particular IGers?
- Do you have any tips on using the IG app?
- Do you have any questions regarding the IG app that others could answer?
If you ARE NOT on Instagram, you can still participate in this month's post:
- Just for fun, if you were on Instagram what handle (name) would you give yourself?
- What quilt personality would you like to follow on Instagram?
- Would you ever consider joining Instagram? If so, what would prompt you to join?
As of last count, our guild has 71 members. Wouldn't it be awesome if there were 71 comments on this post?! I am interested to see how many OMQGers are on Instagram and read all the comments. Once again, all comments are eligible to win a quilty prize. A winner will be selected at midnight September 1st.

My hashtag is # is seorlandodaysforgirls. I do follow OMQG on Instagram but I seem to look at Facebook more often.
ReplyDeleteMy hashtag is @thezombiequilter. I love IG and am on it more often than any other social media. :)
ReplyDeleteMy hashtag is flowers_a_bloomin. Of course I follow OMQG. Who wouldn't.
ReplyDeleteI am @ReneCreates on Instagram; yes I follow OMQG; I try and add the #OrlandoMQG but sometimes forget; there are so many great IGers to follow, but two I recently discovered are @wildboho and @chelengeorge; one tip I have is to use the "@" and the person's IG name when replying to a comment left on your photo, otherwise the person may not realize you have responded; one question I have regarding IG is why sometimes I don't get a notification when someone "tags" me...there have been times when I have accidentally seen that someone mentioned me in their photo but no notification was sent. OK, that's it for now! I love IG!
ReplyDeleteI have not been following quilting on Instagram - but it sounds like I should start!! Joan Werla
ReplyDeleteI am @fpalmer0526 on IG and I do follow OMQG. I hashtag the guild when it's appropriate, but generally not if I'm posting a swap photo, the dogs, the cats, what I'm eating, or something NQR. My favorite thing about IG is that posting a photo is super easy (because that's what it's for), but by clicking the Facebook button, I can share on Facebook at the same time, and it keeps followers current on both platforms. I recommend @pumpkinpatchquilter, @rosecityquilter, @zakfosterquilts, @jamie_wallen, @mctavishquilting, @accomplish_quilting, and @halldarla. If you're ever feeling unmotivated or just stuck, you can join a mini quilt swap. Follow @openquiltswaps to see new ones as they pop up. It's a good opportunity to try out a new technique or an idea, without working on a large project.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I have seen so many swap-related posts, and feel like I'm really missing out. Now I know where to go!
DeleteI am @jkae1989 on IG and I do follow OMQG. I don't tend to tag OMQG unless it is guild specific. Should I start? I also struggle with IG because I don't want my IG and Facebook linked and would like to keep my IG limited to just quilty/crafty friends. Even though I have unchecked all the correct boxes my FB friends still keep trying to follow me. I am mailing off my last IG swap today and after that I may not go back to IG nearly as much.
ReplyDeleteI m on IG, my user name is @beebsinwonderland and I do follow OMQG. I have hashtagged the quild once or twice but I don't really do an guild sewing except for the BOMs so far. I was not sure if we should tag all the stuff we work on so that its associated with the guild, like everything guild members are working on, or not. So just in case I haven't. My tip is to double tap and "heart" the photos you do like, because your search section will become more tailored to your likes and that is when you can start seeing all kinds of beautiful quilts and sewn projects. There is so much inspiration out there, tutorials, blog links to articles, videos, swaps, pattern releases, give a ways, etc. You will get out of it what you put in. I am on IG more than any other social media these days.
ReplyDeleteI am on IG as @czgrad, but don't post very often. I have not been able to figure out many of the things to do on IG, so mostly rely on FB and Pinterest. I definitely need help with how to share what I find, join swaps, etc., and info about hashtags. (And probably a hundred other things that I don't even know about). I follow OMQG of course!!
ReplyDeleteI'm on IG as @apquilter and I follow OMQG. My posts are scarce at best...Pinterest takes all the time I have!
ReplyDeleteI'm ede9002. I'm trying to post more often, and I'm checking in more often as well; the creativity on display is amazing! I still feel a little foolish whenever I use a hashtag, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I am following OMQG.
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention that I like saphre1964, among others. She takes gorgeous photos, and her work has humor and great color sense.
DeleteI am madeofhonorquilts in IG, and just added someone to follow from the list of responders, I try to keep my IG quilt related so it can inspire me
ReplyDeleteMy IG handle is @alissalapinsky and I'm on IG a LOT. I haven't used our hashtag, but now I will!! @chelengeorge is also one of my favorites, @katebasti, @evildemondevildog, @giucygiuce and I can't remember who else! Also, don't forget you can edit your comments if you didn't tag someone properly :) And Rene, maybe they didn't tag you properly? That's why you didn't get the alert?

ReplyDeleteI am trying to resist the lure of Instagram. Twitter never tempted me, but I admit this does. However, I already check Facebook and Pinterest when I'm waiting, nursing the baby, etc. and get sucked in for longer than I meant to give it my attention. I'm scared to add Instagram to the things that pull me out of the moment.
ReplyDeleteMy name on IG is margecree.....pretty simple. I like IG but i find it hard to know who I follow. I added a lot of "friends" from quiltcon but dont remember who is who. I only put quilt stuff on IG,I use FB for personal stuff. Will be following some of you who I didn't know had an account.
ReplyDeleteI'm on IG and really like it. My handle is pheskin. I post quilty things and some stuff of my kids. I love all the inspiration you can find on it. I like following some of the big fabric distributors, like Robert Kaufman, because they give you nice pictures of up coming fabric lines.
ReplyDeleteHi! I am @craftychele on IG. Love the daily inspiration IG provides. I follow photographers, food bloggers and quilters.
ReplyDeleteI joined IG about 2 weeks ago as @lgale01. Still learning how it works and these posts will really help.
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm @sewnwithcurves on IG and I love seeing quilty things when I scroll. I have too many favorite quilters to list here!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tanyia about liking photos you want to see more of because you will get suggested feeds to follow. I also recommend you spend time doing random searches. (I sometimes choose a random word and see how many #'s are available to view.)
Fun times!
I'm on IG as pattil712. I follow OMQG but I haven't hash tagged it yet. I follow lots of quilters but a few I really like are: @gnomeangel and @shequiltsalot. I will admit it's kind of addictive, but I get lots of good ideas so it's a trade off.
