Sew Day Fun, May 17th, 2014

Last Saturday was another wonderful Sew Day.  I am so glad I got to attend.
These photos are proof;  proof that Sew Days are not just fun, joking, eating and laughing.
But we are actually making beautiful quilts too!

Did You Know?

Just a few fun items of interest to share with you:

Did you know there is a new quilt podcast out there called Modern Society? I discovered it through Carolyn Friedlander, and it is quite interesting.  Now is a good time to check it out as Stephanie is celebrating her 25th episode with a huge giveaway of 25 items.

Carolyn Friedlander's exhibit at Bok Tower Gardens continues through June 4th.  She is holding a local meet up on Saturday, May 24th.  You can find more information on her website.

Jodi has organized a trip to delivery quilts to Camp Boggy Creek on Wednesday, May 28th.  Meetup at the camp at 9:45, tour of the camp starts at 10.  Lunch afterwards will be at Mt. Dora Brewing and then a trip to Sew Mini Things quilt shop.  Visit our facebook page or email Jodi for more information.

Jacquie Gering will be giving a lecture and teaching a class at The Bernina Sewing Centre in Lake Mary on June 13 and 14.

Gee's Bend Quilt Exhibit going on at the Elliott Museum in Stuart beginning in September and running through February 2015.

Leave a comment if you plan on attending any of these events, have questions or know of other quilty items of interest our guild should know about.

June BOM Pattern

For the June meeting, we'll do a GENIUS block by Anita Grossman Solomon, who is known for figuring out easier ways to put blocks together. Here are my two examples of her Arrowhead block in green and gray:

The block is very easy to make; any combination of green and gray works for this quilt. The block finishes at 8 1/2, so this is a departure from our usual size!!!!
