Welcome to our OMQG Library

Our library began through a collection of books from Lucky Spools. We thank them for the generous donation of creative, modern quilt books.
(Feel free to write an Amazon review of titles you borrow and enjoy!)

Current members in good standing are welcome to borrow library books at our monthly guild meetings. You may borrow the book for one month and return it at the follow meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting, please make arrangements to have another member return the book for you.

We have since grown our collection of books through member donations. We are open to suggestions for titles to purchase in the future. If you have modern library books you would like to donate or any questions about current titles, contact Yanick B. through the member directory.

Members may submit suggestions through the Library Wish List.

Donation Quilts for Pulse Orlando Victims

Donation Quilt Information for Pulse Orlando Victims
First and foremost I want to thank each and every one of you for offering your help. I can't even believe this happened in our town, and am so thankful for any and all help you're willing to offer. As a quilt community we all love to give and love to help others, and a quilt drive was my immediate thought. Any survivors need to know they are loved and how better to accomplish that than by literally covering them in a quilt covered in hearts, and made with love?!
My idea is hearts in bright, rainbow colors to represent everyone affected, and obviously represent the love we are sending them. We will be using a tutorial from Cluck Cluck Sew to make 10" blocks. And I ask that the quilts be no smaller than 5 blocks wide and 6 blocks long. You're more than welcome to make them larger, I'd just like to keep them at the very least lap sized.

Details for Quilts for Pulse Donations

Hello ladies and gents! The outpouring of love and support we have received is nothing short of incredible and we are overwhelmed with it. There aren't words to describe how we felt knowing that this sort of atrocity happened in our backyard and now, no words to describe how supported and loved we feel with the help of all of you. Let me start by saying a simple Thank You. When I try and look for words that are better than that, I cant even come up with any because none would suffice.  Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You.
I know there have been a ton of questions asked and I've waited to answer some of them because honestly i didn't have the answers. Or I had the answers but was waiting to double check them, or get an answer from someone else, or was busy at work. I had to work at my salon all day yesterday, so was fleshing out the details between clients. But the good news is a LOT of details have been decided and figured out.  Any other news will be posted here s…

A Quilts for Pulse Update!

Time for an Update on our Quilts for Pulse Quilt Drive
The Orlando Modern Quilt Guild has been a very busy guild!!
Most of you have heard of the Pulse massacre that occurred in Orlando on June 12.  This is reported to be “the deadliest mass shooting in American History.”  It was shocking and tragic and the sorrow and anger have been felt throughout our entire Central Florida region.   The members of Orlando Modern Quilt Guild felt a call to do something to comfort those that were affected by this horrific hate crime. So we did what we do best: we started to sew quilts of love!  The problem was that this tragedy affected so many people, so we put out a request for help. We asked for help making heart blocks, with the goal of making a quilt for each person that was shot, (or their loved one if deceased). We had hoped that other guilds would offer to make us a finished quilt and send it to us and that individuals and other guilds would make us blocks which we would turn into finished qu…
