Local Happenings:

The Orange County History Center will have a public gallery display of the One Orlando Collection and Digital Gallery June 12th – 17th. Images of individual items collected at the Pulse Memorial Sites in their current state in preservation will be shared. Curated pieces from the One Orlando Collection will feature community art work and international support that was received including the Pulse quilt donated to the collection. Hours at the History Center located at 65 East Central Blvd in Downtown Orlando are 10 am – 7 pm. Admission is free.

UCF Remembers will host several events on campus June 8th including the opening of “Resilience: Remembering Pulse” from 4 – 6 pm at the UCF Art Gallery. The exhibit runs through June 30th and includes quilts, photos, painting, and more to honor the victims and the LGBTQ+ community. Guild members Anne Sullivan and Anastasia Salter helped with this exhibit.

In remembrance of the one-year anniversary of the Pulse Tragedy, the victims, and their families, The Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association, Inc. and its community partners are offering a one-time event for the free preparation of Simple Wills, Durable Power of Attorney, Health Care Surrogate, and Living Will. Appointments are required and can be scheduled by calling Judy at 407-841-8310 extension 3156.  Please mention Donna Haynes when making the appointment.


Stitcher Paradise will take place at The Grand Hyatt in Tampa Bay, August 17-19, 2017.  You can register and find more information about their five national teachers, workshops, and marketplace on their website.

Calls for Entries:

The International Quilt Festival will feature quilts in a special exhibit, the Modern Quilt Guild Showcase.  Deadline for entry is June 17, 2017. 

Stars Above the Sierras Carson Valley Quilt Show offers $20,000 in prize money.  June 2-3, 2018. (Entry details not posted yet.)
