Saturday Sew Day

We had a cozy group of five for our Sew Day, but there was still delicious food. There's always delicious food. We quilters need our strength. There were homemade cookies, gourmet salads, decadent fudge, and deviled eggs. What's more fun than sewing and eating all day long?

The room at the library is huge. Plenty of room for sewing, cartwheels, or dancing if you wish. It's usually ice cold, so bring a sweater. Perfect for summer sewing. The view out the windows is lovely. A storm passed through, but we were safe and sound in our surroundings. And you can go next door and check out a book or two. We also have visitors who want to know what we're up to drop in on occasion.

Maya was busy working on a peacock tote bag for herself. We coerced her into teaching us her embroidery with mirrors method at the next Sew Day. She had just returned from a Renaissance Faire and we all enjoyed hearing about the costumes and food from that era. There was talk about bringing foods fro…

II.    Raffle Basket

As the winner of the basket at the last meeting in June, Beth provided a basket of goodies to be raffled.
The basket was won by Zonetta.
III.   QuiltCon Challenge Blocks
Members contributed a fascinating and colorful assortment of modern blocks for the QuiltCon block challenge.
IV. Blocks of the Month

The Wonky Asterisk Blocks of the Month for August were won by Jackie.

Alejandrina showed samples of her large and small wonky donut design, which is the Block of the Month for September.  A tutorial is already available online. The theme is scraps on a white background. 12.5 inches by 12.5 inches unfinished.
V.     Other Business
Jody recommended a new publication named Generation Q and Ede won the premiere issue as a door prize.
Jody showed some samples of pot holders and place mats reminding members of OMQG that she is collecting them…
